a smell, a memory, a conversation i thought i
was never going to have. one that resonates in
a void longing for an explanation. our dance
carries unspoken words, twirls them into gravity
making our skin hot. our gaze dizzy. eyes taking
their time to brush the surfaces of our
conjoined bodies. blunt sweet sweaty slipping. i
push and she receives, we trust and listen. she
cries and i hold her in forgiveness and
remembrance to let go of my expectations i
have of our friendship. i hold her knowing i will
never hold her so tenderly again. a teaching. a
lesson i can revisit as long as i have ample space
to remember the full story. how to surrender
unfulfilled expectations, and choose to offer the
unfolding journey. our presence
